Powerwave Technologies Provides Wireless Coverage For Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi

Santa Ana, Calif., September 08, 2008 - Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi, located in Biloxi, Miss., an organization that has weathered one of the greatest natural disasters to strike the United States this century – Hurricane Katrina – recently took the advice of their wireless provider, Team One Communications, and contracted with Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global source of wireless infrastructure solutions, to provide a wireless coverage system for its public safety communications network.

In 2005, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina only days before its scheduled grand opening. After undergoing a major renovation and rebuild, the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s most anticipated destination resort opened its doors on July 7, 2007, and has since welcomed more than two million guests.

Based on Powerwave’s Distributed Antenna System (DAS) technology, Hard Rock’s in-building wireless system will support a M/A-COM public safety network that spans the entire 500,000-square-foot casino and hotel resort. The system’s primary objective is to provide wireless coverage to support first responders’ critical communications and activities within the resort.

“Powerwave designed an off-the-air system for our facility, using donor antennas, compact repeaters and distributed service antennas to fulfill the FCC’s 800MHz re-banding requirements, and allow us to improve communications for first responders in the event of an emergency, ” said John Murphy, Vice President and CIO, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Biloxi.  “Additionally, when coverage issues arose due to our facilities’ non standard finished, closed ceilings, Powerwave was able to modify the system and relocate antennas and cabling to ensure a seamless and successful installation.”

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi wireless system is expected to be completed this Fall.
